Receiving and giving love

Dear Loving Father, I pray that You will continue to bless President-elect Obama. Give him a deep sense of Your love for him. May he know in a powerful way Your care and concern for him, especially since his earthly parents are no longer with him. May the love he receives from you foster in him a deep love for the people of the United States of America, and for all people. Give him an abundance of Your love for the people close to him; his family, his friends, his advisers and colleagues.

Thanksgiving

Dear Father, I pray that this Thanksgiving, President-elect Obama will take the time to consider Your many blessings and benefits. May he give thanks to You for what You have done in his life. Foster in him a spirit of thankfulness. May we all be grateful for Your protection and love and redemption. In Jesus' name, Amen

decisions

Dear Father, I pray that You will continue to guide President-elect Obama and the rest of his team as they fill key positions.

children

Dear Father, I pray for the Obamas as they explore and plan their move to the White House. Give them wisdom in choosing the best school situation for their daughters and help them to know how to keep their lives as normal as possible. Amen

protection

Dear Father, I pray that You will protect the President-elect from all harm. Help the Secret Service to do their job well. Give grace to the Obamas' neighbors whose lives are affected by the increased security. Guard his daughters and wife as well. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Prayer

Dear Father, as I and many others pray for Obama during this time of transition, I ask that he, too, will be turning to you in prayer. May he seek Your wisdom and guidance and strength for the days to come. Amen

wisdom in moving ahead

Dear Father, in the days to come so many people will be pushing their agendas on the President-elect. Give him wisdom to separate the wheat from the chaff, the people with selfish motives and agendas that serve political parties rather than the country. Help him to put the needs of the people ahead of the needs of special interest groups and politicians.

The day the Lord has made

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Father, I pray that Obama and his family will have a good day of rest and make time to worship You. Amen

the strength of hope

"He is not impressed by the might of a horse; he has no pleasure in the strength of man; But the Lord has pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who put their hope in his unfailing love." Psalm 147:12

Lord, I pray that Obama will grow in his fear of You, and continue to put his hope in Your unfailing love. Amen

Spiritual advisers

As Obama assembles a team of people to work with him, pray that he will also be led to wise and godly spiritual advisers who can give him guidance.

Father, thank you for the Christians who have been alongside Obama. I pray that he will continue to seek out godly counsel. Amen

Praying for Obama

It's the morning after Barack Obama has been elected the next president of the United States of America. I know President-elect Obama will need people to be praying for him along the way as he takes office and leads our country. So I'm starting this non-partisan blog to provide a forum where Christians can join together and lift Obama up to the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Please join me in praying for him, either by leaving your own prayer in the comments or just add an 'amen.'

Heavenly Father, I pray for Barack Obama today. I pray that You will guide him as he begins his transition to the presidency. Give him wisdom and strength. But most of all, draw him closer to You.
